Why a month
Most authorities rely on a particular center. Reflectors have none that stays defined, so their sense of what is right is described as shifting with each day, each room and each person they spend time with.
The Moon passes through all 64 gates in about 27.3 days. In the system, that passage temporarily activates parts of a Reflector's chart that are normally open. When the Moon enters a gate that pairs with one of the Reflector's own gates, the channel is complete for a while and the centers it joins behave as if they were defined. Then the Moon moves on. Over a full cycle every gate has had its turn.
The point of the long view is to hear all of those temporary voices.
The testA choice that looks right only while a particular gate is active is not yet a decision. A choice that survives the full cycle is.
How to run a lunar decision
- State the question in one sentence and write the date.
- Each day, write one line: where you were, who you were with, and how the decision felt.
- Talk it over with two or three people on different days. Say it aloud, and notice what you hear.
- After the cycle, read the log from start to end. Mark what repeated.
You are not looking for a mood. You are looking for the thing that came up again and again, whatever the circumstances. If the pattern is still unclear, the system recommends letting the question sit and trying again, not forcing it.
Talking it through
A Reflector is advised to speak with others, but not to take their advice as the answer. Speaking helps by letting the person hear themselves from outside. The listener should be someone who is patient and consistent, not someone who is in a hurry for the outcome.
The conversation is also a way to tell the difference between your view and the view of the person you are talking to. Reflectors are described as absorbing the feelings of others, so what feels like yours on one day may belong to a friend. Hearing the same position from different people helps sort that out.
Mistakes the system warns about
- One excellent day. It is not the answer. A day in a lively, encouraging room can make anything look possible.
- Keeping the question to yourself. The cycle works through conversation, so a month of private thinking misses half of it.
- Someone else's urgency. It should not set the schedule. Their deadline is theirs, and you can ask for a different one.
- Changing everything at once. If the decision is large, the system prefers one change at a time so the next cycle has a steady background.
Practical limits
Not every decision has a full month. Offers expire, leases end, people ask for answers by Friday.
Try thisThe system's advice is to ask for as much time as you can get, and to use the smaller steps inside a large decision as a way to stay in the cycle.
A trial month, a visit, or a part-time arrangement can stretch a fast timetable.
What this looks like in your chart
All nine centers are pale and unfilled. No complete channel runs between any two. That is the only chart that has lunar authority, and it is the same pattern as the Reflector type. If you got this result unexpectedly, the Reflector page explains why the birth time deserves a second check.
The free chart calculator reports the type and authority. The guide to reading your chart shows the full ranking.
This describes what Human Design teaches, not established fact. The method page explains how to treat the system.
